I wanted to share my story with VASR. November 29, 2003 My Father, William “Bud” Roayston was walking home from his weekly routine of church and then the grocery store. It was kk7:15 in the evening and it was dark outside. He did this routine every yweek for 40 years on Saturday evenings. He was 70 years old. On this night however, his rountine ended. The details are still unknown except for witnesses. He was almost across the southbound lanes with his bags in hand, when he was struck by a speeding car. Witrnesses said it was so fast that it looked like “ a grocerty cart of stuff was tossed in the air. ” The speed at which these two young drivers were racing was in excess of 100 mph according to forensic experts. Without going into details, my fathers accident went down as the worst pedestrian accident in higstory. The drivers were not arrested in this incident because my father was 15 feet from a crosswalk. They still continued to drive after this horrific accident.
